Question
Techers: I finally was able to pick up my MIT 06 disc last night, and came home to see if I could update any of my software. I found the iPhoto 6 update package, but when I tried to install/update my existing iPhoto 2, I got a message that said:

"...an eligible iPhoto application could not be found in /Applications"

What does this mean, and what am I doing wrong? I am using OSi 10.3.9

Thanks.

iPhoto 6 is a paid update. The updater brings iPhoto 6 forward to iPhoto 6.0.5, but you need to have iPhoto 6 itself to run it. It will not bring just any version of iPhoto (such as your version 2) up to 6.0.5. To get iPhoto 6, you need to obtain the iLife '06 package of programs.

Update vs Upgrade

The distinction between upgrade and update is what's causing the confusion.

The updater will only update iPhoto 6 versions. That is, you cannot use the updater to update a version of iPhoto older than version 6. An update will update the current version with recent fixes.

To go from iPhoto 5 (or older versions) to iPhoto 6 requires an upgrade which is part of iLife '06. The upgrade is a paid upgrade when buying iLife or a free upgrade if you purchased a new Mac recently which would have iLife 06 already installed.

I hope that helps
