Digital Art on Cafe press

In the interest of getting the ball rolling in these forums (aside from the barrage of boring welcome messages), I thought it would be fun to share some recent stuff I'm trying with Cafe Press.

Obviously I've setup the cafe press store for our Multimedia User group store (www.cafepress.com/macintechsig/). That one was actually quite easy. It's simply a second store built off my first user account. The graphics for the logo were created in PowerCADD (www.engsw.com) but were all exported as TIF or JPEG for uploading.

I then thought, hey, I have a bunch of digital art projects I've worked on over the years, i wonder what can be accomplished with that. So I made this store www.cafepress.com/huc/ to showcase those personal goodies. The store uses graphics that were created using Painter 6 and Painter 8. The source information in some cases comes from digital photos, in others it's just straight doodling. Frankly I have no clue how the experiment will pan out but it's free so worth trying. What would really like is a way to print poster size items onto watercolor paper just like I at home -- but that isn't a service cafe press currently offers. I have a pretty large collection of graphics from over the years so 2006 may be the year to try and figure out what to do with all that stuff. smile

Anyway, I hope others try out the cafe press route, it's pretty easy and can be an effective way to try some new things that maybe we'd not venture into.

if anyone else has a cafe press store setup please share your link by posting a comment to this thread or start a new one. It's always fun to see what others are doing and how they've tackled various problems.

Zazzle has some neat offerings too

www.zazzle.com also has some neat options for printing various products. The selection is different than cafe press which is nice

I've started to customize a zazzle gallery which you're welcome to visit at this link: Huc's Zazzle Gallery

I like the zazzle options for garments and colors. The interface isn't too bad and does provide some nice options. However, it can be a bit confusing in terms of getting items made public and there are limited options in terms of making a home page in the Contributors Gallery.

I'll be exploring their Associates membership and will report back any interesting things I find here.
