A system level command found in Unix based operating systems (example: Mac OSⁱ X, Linux) used to schedule commands to run at specific times. The tasks performed are often, generically, referred to as a cron-job or CRONJOB or cronjobⁱ. A cronjob might be a system level maintenance task such as removing cache files.
